The Gator Club of Historic Saint Augustine was able to award five scholarships worth $2,000 each to graduating high school seniors in St John’s County! We had so many highly qualified applicants and the selection process was difficult. We know that the future of UF is bright with the incoming students from St John’s County!
We wanted to spotlight our five winners, starting with Kirsten H from Pedro Menendez High School:
Kirsten graduated from Pedro Menendez with a perfect 4.0 GPA and a 4.69 weighted GPA, ranked #1 in her class. She is a IB Diploma Candidate and participated won an international online debate about the societal impact of the coronavirus.
Kirsten was also honored as a scholar athlete, competing on the varsity volleyball team all four years of high school. She participated on the Athlete Leadership Council to help drive athletic policies within SJ school district and organize athletic events.
Kirsten also co-founded a school newspaper, The Falcon Feather, because she wanted to bring different groups at Pedro Menendez together and recognize students for their accomplishments. Now that the paper is established, She has handed it off to underclassmen that will continue the paper for future generations of Falcons.
Kirsten has worked as a medical assistant throughout high school, and plans to major in microbiology. After UF she plans to become a Physician Assistant.
We are so proud of Kirsten and welcome her and her family into the Gator Nation!
